Former Indian captain, Sourav Ganguly, has weighed in on the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 clash between India and Pakistan as both the arch-rivals will face each other on Saturday at Pallekele.
In a recent interview with Star Sports, Ganguly emphasized the crucial role batting and bowling will play in determining the outcome of the highly anticipated encounter.
He also praised Pakistan skipper, Babar Azam, as a talented player and acknowledged the challenge India’s bowlers would face against him.
While @SGanguly99 knows that @Babarazam58 in his current element will be a challenging nut to crack, he’s positive that #India has a fast-bowling attack strong enough to restrict him from doing what he does! 💥 pic.twitter.com/iGJp3aiGPh

“Babar Azam is a good player, there’s no doubt about it. They [India] will have to bowl at him in the Asia Cup, so you know we will have plans for him, we have a good bowling attack, Bumrah, Siraj, and Shami is a serious fast-bowling attack, and Babar will also have to bat well to score runs against India. So, India will have to bowl well against Babar Azam and vice-versa,” Ganguly said.
The former skipper further praised Pakistan’s bowling attack, acknowledging the threat posed by Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi, and Haris Rauf.
“Pakistan has a very good bowling attack. Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi, and Haris Rauf, they are a good fast-bowling attack just like India is, so they are a good bowling attack as well, and India will have to bat well against them,” he concluded.
